“Story-based learning in primary and pre-primary” by Edward A. Lockhart, Universitat Rovira i Virgili

This workshop will consist on a 3-hour session of story-based learning. The whole session will spin around a certain story (Aaaarrgghh! Spider! By Lydia Monks). There will be several sample activities that the trainees will have to develop to experience the different proposals so they become more meaningful and aplicable in the future.

At the end of the session, there will be some time for reflections on the different techniques and activities used. This way, the trainees can understand the pedagogical features that were considered when designing the workshop. These pedagogical features will be examples of widely extended good teaching practices that can be exported other teaching situations.

To take full profit of the workshop, in the first part of the session, the attendants will be expected to take the role of learners, actively participating in the different activities. Later on, they will be asked to go back to their professional language teacher's role to reflect upon the whole process and upon the different tools and techniques shared.
