Carmen Rueda retires
Carmen holds a degree in Filologia Anglogermànica (Anglès), from the Universitat de Barcelona and completed her Ph.D. in American Literature from the Universitat de Barcelona in 2001.
Her research has been on the literature of the American South, contemporary Appalachian literature, English for Specific Purposes, and new technologies applied to foreign language teaching.
In 2010 she held a Fulbright Scholarship to study music in Contemporary Appalachian Fiction
In addition to numerous articles and book chapters, Carmen has authored or co-authored a series of books:

The department staff and teachers were la La Cuineta in the Part Alta of Tarragona for an end-of-semester lunch, prior to taking a well-deserved summer break.

Jornada d'Innovació Docent
At the Jornada d'Innovació Docent on 2 July, Mar Gutierrez and Nune Ayvazyan presented their projects, with particular reference to the use of generative AI.
Mar’s project is “Exploració de l'ús de la Intel·ligència Artificial Generativa en estudis de llengua i cultura amb una perspectiva innovadora”
Nune’s is “Competència miltilingüe: Implementar la IA (ChatGPT) per a l'èxit a l'aula multilingüe. Multilingual Competence: Implementing AI (ChatGPT) for a Multilingual Classroom Success”.

The Masters in Professional Translation renews its European status
The Masters program became a member of the EMT network in the previous round, and this year has renewed its membership until 2029.
The EMT gives students access to the workings of the translation services of the European Commission, with visits to Brussels. Our teaching staff are also invited to attend general and regional meetings on key aspects of translator training.
